Slopping out millions ‘must stop’

The Scottish Government is urging Westminster to change the law to stop millions of pounds being paid to criminals.

Details of a Mini Cabrio John Cooper Works (JCW) has been made available in anticipation of the Geneva motor Show next month. It is patterned after the latest Mark II Mini Cabrio, but the JCW version puts in more style and performances.

The JCW comes with 211hp (157kW), which makes it comparable with other models in the range and about 40hp (30 kW) more than the Mini Cooper S, which comes with 172hp (128kW). Maximum torque is 192lb-ft (260 Nm) which is attained at 1,850rpm to 5,500rpm and an additional 15lb-ft (20 Nm) can be achieved through an over-boost function. The increase in horsepower is attributed to a twin-scroll turbocharger and a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder powerplant. The JCW comes with a ceiling speed of 146mph and an acceleration rate of 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds. The JCW is equipped with a lightweight but stronger powerplant with a bigger air intake and an exhaust that was exclusively developed for the JCW vehicles.

The car comes with a 6-speed manual transmission which was also strengthened. There is a sport button in front of the gear stick which sets in motion a modified powerplant control map generating boost earlier in the rev range and enhancing steering and accelerator reaction. Similar to its hardtop counterpart the JCW Cabrio comes with a front face that looks aggressive, steering wheel in leather with three spokes, roof colored in anthracite, and ebony black interior finish.

It comes with a set of 17-inch alloy wheels and a highly tuned suspension which further improve the already superb Mini handling.
